People enjoying al fresco dining and drinking in Lyric Square
August 11, 2025
Residents and visitors to Hammersmith are invited to soak up the summer vibes at a new series of pop-up pub nights every Thursday evening in August. Hosted by Hammersmith & Fulham Council, the events aim to boost the local night-time economy while offering a lively, open-air experience in Lyric Square.
From 6pm to 11pm, the square will be transformed into a festive piazza complete with deck chairs, parasols, giant games, and a live music stage. Local pubs, restaurants, and cafes—including Baba G, Blanche Eatery, Hammersmith Ram, The Swan, and The William Morris—will run pop-up bars serving everything from alcohol-free drinks to pub classics and global bites.
Live music will be a central feature, with four artists performing each week. Highlights include jazz from Sophie Anderson, upbeat covers by singer-songwriter Laila Mai Knight, and eclectic renditions by Bunny Nightingale, spanning genres from Sinatra and Doris Day to Nirvana and Rihanna.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with local people, showcase businesses and create that summer evening buzz,” said Anthony Blake, landlord of the Hammersmith Ram.
Cllr Zarar Qayyum, Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Skills, added: “Our Lyric Square pop-up piazza is a great way to enjoy one of Hammersmith's great landmarks, all while spending time with friends, families and colleagues and supporting local businesses.”
The initiative complements other summer activities in Hammersmith, including “Sounds in the Square” at Bradmore Square, which also features live music and refreshments every Thursday night through August.
