Dispersal order is renewed around Hammersmith bus station.
A dispersal order at Hammersmith Bus station has been renewed following complaints from residents about abusive youths running amok.
The dispersal order, which gives police power to tell people to leave the area around Hammersmith bus station if they are in groups of two or more people and are behaving in an intimidating or harassing way, has been in place since March last year.
Although there has been a reduction in the number of crimes and incidents of anti-social behaviour reported to police since the order was introduced, groups of school children are still harassing people using the station, so the order has been renewed for a further six months. It will now last until March 2009.
The dispersal order covers to the area known as Hammersmith Broadway, including the Hammersmith Broadway Centre, surrounded by Hammersmith Broadway (south side), Butterwick (west side, including the new bus station extension), The A4 (north side beneath the flyover) and Queen Caroline Street (east side).
