British Transport Police has released CCTV images after a man was seriously injured in an attack at Hammersmith Underground Station.

The incident happened at around 2pm on Friday 9 January. The victim had been travelling on an eastbound Piccadilly Line service when he was approached by another man who offered him alcohol. After the victim declined, the man became abusive and aggressive.

When the train arrived at Hammersmith, the victim stepped off the train. As he did so, the same man struck him on the head with a wine bottle, which shattered on impact. The victim sustained deep cuts and required emergency hospital treatment.

Detectives say the man shown in the CCTV images, who boarded the train at South Ealing, may have information that could help their investigation.
