Lyric Theatre to embark on major redevelopment but needs another £1.4 million to complete its ambitious plans
The
Lyric Hammersmith is at a turning point in its history.
Much needed extra funding from the Arts Council of England
and London Arts has allowed it to make long-term investments
in its work on stage and in the community, and is also
helping them to move forward with plans for a major £2.6
million building project in 2003.
This project will create a dramatic glass-fronted entrance on Lyric Square, a purpose-built rehearsal space, and a fully resourced education room, providing much needed new facilities for artists, audiences and thousands of local children and young people.
The Arts Council of England has already awarded £1.2 million towards the redevelopment. Now we have to raise a further £1.4 million from audiences, local businesses and other sources in order to ensure that the new spaces can open to the public in October 2003.
