Commenting on the publication of the Council's "Best Value Performance Plan", Hammersmith & Fulham Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman, Cllr Greg Hands, is very concerned that the Labour Council are badly letting down many of the Borough's council tenants.

Published figures reveal that satisfaction of Council tenants with the overall service provided by their landlord is just 71 per cent, compared with 75 per cent for the year 2000 and an 80 per cent target figure for this year.

Contentment among Council tenants at the ability to participate in the management and decision making process of their properties reveals an even bigger decline, with just 61 per cent showing satisfaction, compared to 71.3 per cent in 2002/3, again contrasted with an 80 per cent target for this year.

Commenting on the figures, Cllr Hands said: "Labour are simply making things worse for local Council tenants - that is plain to see from these figures.

"From their introduction of Arms Length Management Organisations with hardly any consultation, to closing the cashiers office at Fulham Town Hall, rising rents and soaring Council Tax - Labour are fast becoming the archetypal 'bad' landlord.

"The increase in numbers of people contacting me with problems relating to council properties is significant and this state of affairs must not be allowed to carry on.

"It is time to put local residents first - and that means giving them the service and the say in their own lives that they deserve."
