"It is estimated it would cost several million pounds to maintain
the Janet Adegoke in the long run. In view of this, we have decided
to close the existing centre and draw up plans for a new state-of-the-art
facility", says Cllr David Williams, deputy for education.

Residents weren't happy about the closure of Janet Adegoke Centre
and Brook Green Nursery. Council maintains closures, but decides to
invest an extra £500,000 in temporary alternative solutions
for those affected. It will cost an additional 1% to the Council Tax
for 2003-04.
