| It's
easy, it's cheap and it can help bring on the garden or tubs a treat.
So why don't more of us make compost? Vegetable peelings, fruit
scraps, teabags and coffee grounds - things we'd normally throw
away - plus grass clippings and old flower heads and plants will
all rot down and produce valuable compost.
It can save a fortune at the garden centre, and with a modern composter it doesn't have to be messy or smelly. And what's more, it helps the environment. Hammersmith & Fulham residents produced over 60,000 tonnes of waste last year - and at least 20% of that could have been composted rather than being sent to landfill. Hammersmith & Fulham council is offering two types of subsidised compost bins, a 220 litre compost machine for £8, or a larger 280 litre compost machine for £12, including delivery and a free kitchen caddy. Compost bin orders can be made
by calling 0845 130 6090, by visiting the secure website at www.getcomposting.com/hf
or by calling Emma Banthorpe on 020 8753 5686 for more information.
