Joseph Beggs, of Cathor Road, died after a dispute with a local man.
Detectives at Hammersmith CID are appealing to the public for information about an incident that may have led to the death of a popular local man in August.
On Saturday 7th August 2004 at 1500hrs, in Goldhawk road opposite Hammersmith Grove, Joseph Beggs a 59 years old local man of Cathnor Road, Shepherds Bush sustained an injury to his knee after falling awkwardly to the pavement during a dispute, that may have involved a minor scuffle, with another local man.
Joseph went to Hammersmith hospital 2 days later, Monday 9th August, as walking was becoming more and more difficult following the fall. His condition deteriorated and he was transferred to Charing Cross Hospital where he died on the 14th August.
A post mortem to establish cause of death was held on the 17th August at Fulham Mortuary the results of which were inconclusive. We await the results of further tests.
Detective Constable Rob Hale of Hammersmith CID investigating the circumstances by which Joseph sustained his twisted knee initially said:
"Joseph was a well known local man from a loving family who have lived in Shepherds Bush for many years. The family and the police are looking for answers to questions surrounding Josephs knee injury which triggered a sequence of medical events ending in his death."
