HF action groups urge residents to assess Council's Development proposals
The Hammersmith & Fulham Local Agenda 21 Forum and the Friends of the Earth
will hold a public meeting on Thursday 1 December to judge whether the Hammersmith & Fulham Council's proposed Local Development Framework is sustainable. The meeting will follow a series of town hall meetings held by the Council during November.
"The Council's proposals cover a wide range of issues including affordable homes, open spaces and getting to work" says David Wardrop, Forum Secretary. "But it has yet to show it has the capacity to manage all these programmes and then keep managing them efficiently. That's the test of sustainability."
The Forum and the Friends of the Earth will be holding their review of the
Council's Framework proposals at the Emerald 2 Centre, Beadon Road, (near
Hammersmith Metropolitan tube station) at 6.30pm on Thursday 1 December. All
are welcome.

DO YOU WANT A LOCAL PLAN THAT’S GOOD FOR US & THE PLANET
The Local Agenda 21 Forum and local Friends of the Earth invite you to an informal workshop to discuss how we can get a sustainable plan
The Council wants our views on possibilities for a new plan - the Local Development Framework (LDF) - to guide future development of land in the Borough. It will replace the present Plan ( the UDP)
The council must ensure it the new Plan is sustainable. They have to predict the long-term changes the new Plan may have on our local environment for air pollution, health, safety, wildlife, climate change etc. The Council must also show the Plan is likely to meet its objectives for sustainability.
We will consider the long-term future for the Borough.
We will discuss how far the options suggested by the council for its new Plan will meet the needs of our children and other people in the world today
The workshop will be conducted by Miffa Salter - an experienced independent facilitator. She is also running the Council's events on the issues and options for the new Plan
THE KEY QUESTIONS
· Which options are the best for local sustainability?
· How do we measure their consequences?
· How will we check the new policies are sustainable?
Your views matter. The workshop will help choose the policies for the new Plan
