Top ensemble performs at Hammersmith Town Hall this month

The world-class BBC Symphony Orchestra, renowned for its performances at the Proms, is Orchestra-in-Association of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.

The 90-strong ensemble returns to Hammersmith Town Hall on Friday 24 November at 7.30pm for a FREE concert which includes Beethoven's Fourth Symphony and the world premiere of a specially-composed new work.

A dramatic brass and percussion fanfare, created and performed by young students from the borough, supported by players from Fulham Symphony Orchestra, students from Trinity College of Music and the professional brass players of the BBC Symphony Orchestra opens the concert. Conducted by Alexander Rumpf, the BBC SO also performs the world premiere performance of Param Vir's Between Earth and Sky: a reflection on Anish Kapoor's Cloud Gate. (Cloud Gate is a 110-tonne elliptical sculpture in Chicago's Millennium Park.) 

All BBC Symphony Orchestra concerts are broadcast on BBC Radio 3. This concert will be broadcast on Afternoon Performance on Friday 5 December 2006.
