Children's themed holiday play scheme for all 8 to 11 year olds
To celebrate the '5 years to go' milestone to the start of London 2012, GLL (Greenwich Leisure Limited) in partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham Council are hosting Koolympics - an Olympic themed week holiday play scheme for all 8 to 11 year olds in the borough.
The Koolympics held at Phoenix Fitness Centre & Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool, in Bloemfontein Road, Shepherds Bush, will commence on Monday 23 July, ending with competitions and a Koolympics parade done by the children for parent spectators to mark the 5 year anniversary date: Friday 27 July.
Koolympics is an Olympic variation of Kool Crew, which will run every week in the summer holidays. Koolympics is a jam-packed week of fun activities, including: Kool Throw, Kool Jump, Kool Hammer, various team games, arts & crafts, and healthy eating talks - which in turn encourage team work, skill development and improve understanding about healthy living. Children can attend all week, or alternatively join in the fun all day on Friday 27 July.
The play scheme aims to bring fun to the school holidays, and furthermore will raise awareness of London 2012 in the younger generation, encourage participation in sport and physical activity, and will contribute to a national countdown that will only heighten over the next 5 years.
Koolympics is just one activity taking place in all 13 boroughs that GLL operate in partnership with their respective Councils. GLL are hosting 26 events across London and anticipate more that 3,000 children will participate in the 5 year celebration.
