Amici presents a production of Elegy
Following their 2005 collaboration with Julian Crouch of Improbable Theatre, The Stars Are Out Tonight, Amici Dance Theatre Company return to the Lyric this summer with the Elegy.
Set in contemporary Britain, the performance tells six heart-rending, personal stories of mothers who have lost their children in tragic circumstances. At the inquest into their children’s deaths, they ask, could they have been prevented?
Amici’s artistic director Wolfgang Stange has once again collaborated with Julian Crouch, who with his company Improbable created The Wolves in the Walls and Shockheaded Peter at the Lyric.
They have also enlisted the help of director Michael Vale and award-winning playwright Julia Pascal, whose previous work includes plays for the National Theatre and for BBC Radio and TV. Fusing music, text and dance to create striking images and stories, Elegy examines the moral foundations of contemporary British culture.
