'Mamady Keita Weekend' with internationally reknowned musician

On Friday the 10th of June from 12.30pm – 4pm, Sewa Education in collaboration with The Music House for Children will be running a Djembe drumming master class led by internationally re-knowned musician and teacher Mamady Keita for children from London based primary and secondary schools. The event will be hosted at Bush Hall, (The Music House for Children’s sister company) recently voted by The Independent Newspaper as London’s top music venue.

The ‘Mamady Keita Weekend’ is running from Friday 10th June to Sunday the 12th of June with master classes for adults only on Saturday and Sunday, and a day devoted to children on Friday. The Children’s Day will commence at 12.30pm with an Under 18’s master class for children from London’s High Schools, they will then perform what they have learned at 2.30pm to invited children from local Hammersmith & Fulham primary schools. At 3.15 – 4pm there will be an open workshop for selected children from each primary school and The Music House for Children’s own Percussion Club. Parents & siblings will also be invited to watch.

The word ‘Sewa’ means ‘Joy’. Sewa- Education is a registered charity providing high quality African Arts programmes throughout the UK. Sewa Education aims to aid gifted young musicians by giving hands on access to drumming, singing and dance to a wide range of children, including those with special needs,

The Music House for Children, as not for profit organisation, was established in 1994. It has evolved through a massive and essential need for music tuition in all ages and requirements both in and out of schools. The Music House supports children, young people, nursery settings, schools and out of school centres in the provision of music tuition, training, classroom teaching, workshops, performances, music supplies and practical advice.
