Free NHS led information day to be held for diabetics and their carers
Diabetics and their carers from across Hammersmith and Fulham are invited to a free event on 27 September 2006.
The NHS led event, at the Irish Centre, Blacks Road, will cover everything you need to know about living with diabetes.
Experts from the local Primary Care Trust and Hammersmith Hospitals will be on hand to talk about the latest treatments, how diabetics can lead healthy lives, and how to avoid health problems caused by diabetes.
Grace Vanterpool, the PCT’s Diabetes Nurse Consultant, says “It’s a great opportunity for diabetics to learn more about their condition, how they can manage their diabetes better, and the help the NHS can offer.”
The day includes a choice of workshops covering everything from eye screening and blood sugar testing through to healthy cooking and managing diabetes during Ramadan. The day runs from 10am – 3.30pm with lunch and refreshments provided.
Peter Gilbert from the Fulham Diabetes Group says “It’s free and the range of workshops means there’ll be something for everyone. Even if you’ve been living with diabetes for a while this day could be a great help, so book now.”
To reserve your free place call Peter on 020 7736 0044.
