The Hammersmith Quaker Meeting House will open its doors to the public on Tuesday 14 October for an evening event aimed at introducing visitors to Quaker beliefs, worship practices, and community values.

The event, titled Quaker Quest, will run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, with doors opening at 5.30pm. It will take place at the Hammersmith Quaker Meeting House, located at 30–32 Bradmore Park Road (W6 0DT). Entry is free, and while booking via Eventbrite is encouraged, no prior registration or religious background is required.

Organisers say the evening will include a short Meeting for Worship, offering attendees a chance to experience the Quaker tradition of shared stillness and reflection. Members of the local Quaker community will also speak about their personal spiritual journeys and the principles that guide their lives, including simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship.

The event will include opportunities for open discussion and questions, as well as information on Quaker involvement in social activism, including peace work, sustainability initiatives, and community service. Light refreshments will be available.

Quaker Quest events have been held in various parts of the UK as part of wider efforts to promote understanding of the Religious Society of Friends, commonly known as Quakers. The movement, which emerged in the 17th century, is known for its non-hierarchical structure, silent worship, and longstanding commitment to social justice.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

If you do support us in this way we'd be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you'd like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
