When Europe's greatest warlord, Charlemagne, Holy Roman Emperor, could barely write his name (early 800s) the Caliph of Baghdad was personally studying astronomy, mathematics, medicine, and dietetics - the science of healing through diet. No wonder today's Middle East is a cornucopia of delicious cuisines. There are Egyptian dishes dating back to the times of the Pharoahs. Beer was invented in Iraq. Want to know more about this historic and important part of the world - come on a Middle Eastern foodie walk down one of London's most cosmopolitan streets, Uxbridge Road in Shepherds Bush. Sample Arab mint tea and sweet nutty pastries (beloved across the region), as well as flavourful specialities from Damascas, the world's oldest city. Tour price £5 includes drinks
and tasters. The Tour is limited to 30 places. To book your place

Uxbridge Road underground and ends with drinks and tasters at
Abu Zaad restaurant. Led by Blue Badge Guide Simon Rodway, with
contributions from deli owners and chefs whom we'll meet along
