Burlington Danes is offering the highest salary yet quoted for a state school
Burlington Danes school is offering a £110,000 salary to try to attract an "exceptional" new head teacher. According to the BBC, this is believed to be the highest salary yet quoted for the head of a mainstream state school.
The previous head of Burlington Danes school retired after Ofsted said it was failing its pupils. The deputy chief of school improvement in Hammersmith and Fulham, Janet Lewis, told the BBC that there were "challenges" but pupils were keen to learn. “We are desperately keen to appoint a really cracking head teacher to take the school forward”, she said.
Ofsted's inspection last May concluded the school was "failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard of education" and was in need of "special measures" - which triggers extra support but also the threat of closure if things do not improve.
