New Kings Mall store creates 47 local jobs
Over 100 Hammersmith residents got up early to queue for the grand opening of Kings Mall's newest store Wilko on March 8.
To mark the special occasion, H&F Mayor Mercy Umeh led the ceremonial ribbon cutting, along with the CEO of local charity Hammersmith United Charities Tim Hughes.
The first 100 customers through the door at 9am were rewarded for their patience with giveways and goody bags, and local shoppers and commuters in Lyric Square were given coffee and bags filled with Wilko stationery.
Wilko Hammersmith Branch Manager, Linda Tollja, said: "We are delighted to have opened a new store in Kings Mall and can’t wait to welcome the local community to the new branch.
" I started working at Wilko 14 years ago, so it's a dream come true to open and manage a new store, especially in London."
The store, the second branch of the homewares chain to open in the borough alongside Fulham Broadway has created 47 new local jobs.
