Listen To Your Parensts tells the story of Mark Campbell, a teenager whose two loves are football and poetry. Until 8 November at the Lyric Hammersmith.

This is Mark's story in his own words: words of power and passion, humour and pain.
Mark Campbell is a teenager whose two loves are football and poetry. He's been asked to try out for Villa Park next weekend and spends the seemingly endless six days in between keeping fit, writing poetry and hanging out with friends. However, while Mark hones his skills, his family and dreams are shaken to their foundations by a round of violent outbursts from his bullying father, a preacher at the local church.
Zephaniah has created a moving, funny and explosive work that evokes the fears and ambitions of a young man daring to dream amidst a family in turmoil.

Benjamin Zephaniah has been shortlisted for a fellowship at Cambridge University and for Professor of Poetry at Oxford University. His diverse career has encompassed publications of both Poetry and Plays and he is frequently seen and heard on the radio and TV. Listen To Your Parents was originally written for radio and was transmitted on Radio 4 before Benjamin was approached to adapt it for the stage.
Paul J. Medford has been an Associate Artist of Theatre Centre since 1998. He is currently in My One And Only in London's West End and was recently the God Eros in Mother Clapp's Molly House at The National Theatre. He also had starring roles in the original casts of both Disney's The Lion King and Five Guys Named Moe.
