While QPR celebrate record ticket sales, with over 7,500 tickets sold for the next season, residents are furious about the parking problems caused on matchdays. Since the beginning, Resident's Amenities Protection Association (RAPA) were concerned about the arrival of Fulham Football Club to ground share with QPR, which is making a huge difference to the local area in terms of litter, drunkenness and noise.

Now QPR leafleted every household in the area alerting to the fact that OB TV vans were going to be parked at the top of the road, depriving residents of parking space. Virginia Ironside of RAPA explains: "QPR have nowhere for the vans to park, since some site they used to use is being rebuilt. They hope to use another site as it gets built but in the meantime will have to use the top of Loftus Road."

This is not exactly what QPR had promised. Apart of a cleaning programme and traffic management, the club claims to have made arrangements to provide "more parking facilities to take the cars out of residential streets". At least is what is said in their web page dedicated to local residents.

In a note to local residents (reproduced bellow), Virginia says: "Naturally I have written on behalf of RAPA a furious letter to Roger Khanna, the borough engineer, with a copy to Ivan Gibbons. Ivan is up in arms about it but there is very little he can do in the face of Roger Khanna's reply which is that since Fulham are not going to be staying long-term, he feels he has to accommodate them for a short while. It would not be economic for them to tear down part of the stadium... etc."

A short while of at least two years of extra litter, noise and parking problems, in one side, and record ticket sales on the other.
