Public Inquiry starts this week

Cllr Greg Hands is appealing to residents living near the controversial proposed development on Lots Road to turn out and make their voices heard at the Public Inquiry starting next week.

The Public Inquiry into the proposed Circadian Development on Lots Road will begin at 10.00am on Tuesday 1st February 2005, meeting in Kensington Town Hall, on Hornton Street just off Kensington High Street.

According to Hands, the history of this planning application is extremely contentious. The Labour majority on the Hammersmith & Fulham Council Planning Committee first voted to throw out the plans in March 2002, just before the last Council elections, but once the election was safely out of the way, then proceeded in June 2003 to approve an even larger and more oppressive scheme.

Opposition to the plans has been vociferous from Cllr Greg Hands and local Conservatives, with Chelsea Harbour Residents Association, The Lots Road action group and other local amenity societies even commissioning various professional advisers to assist.

Equally, only the Conservatives have voted against these proposals on the Hammersmith & Fulham Planning Committee at every available opportunity.

Commenting, Greg said: “I will be present for all of the inquiry and will be fighting the plans tooth and nail.

 

“Local residents are not alone in finding this development to be wholly inappropriate and excessive. The more residents that can come along and demonstrate their strength of feeling on this issue, the better. I look forward to seeing everyone there!”
