Lyric raises £7000 to Tsunami victims

Donations are being collected after The Firework-Maker’s Daughter.

Audiences at the Lyric Hammersmith have already donated thousands of pounds to the Tsunami Earthquake Disaster Appeal.

Donations for the Appeal have been collected following performances of Philip Pullman’s The Firework-Maker’s Daughter over the Christmas and New Year period. After a week of bucket collections the donation total already stands at over £7000.

The proceeds will be sent directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Umbrella Appeal - representing UK aid organisations including Action Aid, British Red Cross and Oxfam - working to provide clean water, food and shelter to victims of the disaster.

The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, which draws some of its inspiration from the story telling traditions of South East Asia, will continue at the Lyric Hammersmith until 22 January.
