Anne Kelly, from Hammersmith's salon Fringe Benefits, seeks sponsors to raise money for the pet charity PDSA.

| Local hairstylist Anne Kelly is
running the next 26 miles London Marathon together with a list of
celebrities that includes Chris Chittell, Bubble from Big Brother
2, Donal MacIntyre and Alastair Campbell. Anne is nearly ready,
she can run up to 18 miles and she will be working harder from this
week, although she aware that the chances to win are small. But that is not the point. An important aspect of the Marathon is its charitable status, being one of the UK's most successful annual fundraising events. In 2002, £31m were raised. Anne is running the Marathon to
raise at least £2,000 for the pet charity PDSA (People's
Dispensary for Sick Animals). She already has £1,500 and
is now looking for more sponsors to raise as much as she can until
April 13, the Marathon day. PDSA cares for the pets of needy
people by providing free veterinary services to their sick and
injured animals and by promoting responsible pet ownership. Today
PDSA is Britain's leading veterinary charity. Each year PDSA provides
over 1 million free consultations to sick and injured animals. |
