Ravenscourt Park will have a new Diagnosis and Treatment Centre within the next few months.
Within the next few months all nine 'first wave' Diagnosis and Treatment Centres (DTCs) announced in The NHS Plan in will be open and treating patients two years ahead of target:
King's College Hospital, London
BUPA Redwood Hospital, Redhill
University College London Hospital
Royal Hospital at Haslar, Portsmouth
Royal Berkshire & Battle, Reading
Ravenscourt Park, London
Chase Community Hospital, Hampshire
Moorfields Eye Hospital
North Hampshire Hospital
The new DTCs will provide around 30,000 additional operations, or "finished consultant episodes" (FCEs) a year.
A further wave of 10 DTCs are due to become operational within the next two years, providing an extra 25,000 FCEs around the country.
By 2005 it is intended that more than 250,000 FCEs over and above existing NHS operations will be provided annually by DTCs.
