Show case for local artists in Faroe Road

Local artists have joined forces for a showcase of their work at the Central Space art gallery as part of the Hammersmith & Fulham Festival 2006.

Professional, student and amateur artists are showing their work in the annual Borough Open Exhibition, staged by local artists' organisation ACAVA (Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Art) and supported by the council's arts development team.

Anyone who lives, works or studies in Hammersmith & Fulham was given the chance to have their artwork included in the show, which runs at the Central Space, 23-29 Faroe Road, West Kensington, until next Friday (7 April).

The aim is to provide a platform for working artists and to encourage the development of new talent. Paintings, drawings, jewellery and ceramics are all included in the show.

Duncan Smith, artistic director of ACAVA, said: "We work closely with the council's arts development team to increase opportunities for local artists to show their work. We are also helping the council to improve the standard of three-dimensional artwork in schools through the three-year Sculptors in Schools programme, funded by John Lyon's Charity."
