The primary schools performance
table, published last week by the Department for Education and Skills,
shows the progress made by many local schools. Bellow the table is reproduced
with a comparison of the average score points of 2002 and 2003.
In this year's performance tables, two
local schools deserved special rankings: Peterborough Primary School
and Brackenbury Primary School.
Peterborough Primary School is the 12th among the top 100 schools using
the value added measure. According to the DfES, while the threshold
indicators give a valuable indication of schools achieving the expected
levels of performance, the value added measure is a better reflection
of school effectiveness than the stand alone threshold indicators. It
indicates the value the school has added on average for their pupils.
Brackenbury Primary School is the 3rd among the 100 schools showing
most improvement in the aggregate of English, maths and science results
since 2000, which is considered by the DfES a sustainable improvement.
