HACAN ClearSkies urge you to be at Turnham Green, Chiswick, 10.30am Saturday 26th October 2002
We are driving an open top bus bedecked with NO THIRD RUNWAY / HACAN banners from Sloane Square to Windsor. The route we are taking is directly underneath where the new flight path would be. At 10:30am the bus will stop at Turnham Green for a rally.
THE THREAT
If we don't act now we face not only additional flight paths, but a huge increase in the number of aircraft (480,000 to 655,000 flights per year)
The consultation document makes it clear that 'over time' there is the possibility, once the third runway is built, of doing away with runway alternation. This would increase the number of aircraft to 754,000 flights per year.
THE PROTEST EVENT
· This is a Peaceful Protest Event.
· There will be speeches from politicians, councillors.
· Maps showing the new flight path will be available, petitions to sign, etc.
· So come along with friends, neighbours, relatives if you can - plenty of pubs in the area for a pub lunch with friends afterwards, and then good shops nearby for an early Christmas Shopping trip…
· Numbers count - the Press will be there to photograph the crowd. This is the London 'No Third Runway' protest event. It is important that everyone who is opposed to an additional runway at Heathrow joins us.
