Mobile snatchers are on bikes now

Street robbers are riding cycles on the pavement and snatching mobile phones particularly in the Shepherd's Bush Area.

Police have been targeting those cycling on the footway through stop and search, issuing of tickets and arrests for failing to stop.

One local robber was seen cycling on the pavement and failed to stop.

He was arrested and sent to court for the offence, where he was convicted and duly fined.

Since the operation started two weeks ago the number of cycle related snatches has reduced.

Police will prosecute people for cycling on the pavement.
