St James Street Festival is Back on Sunday 10 September

Free community event supports Maggie's West London and Brain Tumour Research

The St James Street Festival is back for a third year this Sunday, 10 September from midday till 6pm.

The normally quiet residential street, off Crisp Road close to Hammersmith's riverside, will be transformed for the day with live music, performers, traditional games and food, plus a great line-up performers including magician Fay Presto, entertainers from Albert & Friends Instant Circus School, and the Hammersmith Morris Men.

Last year, the free festival raised almost £11,000 for Maggie’s West London, the cancer support centre based a short walk away at Charing Cross Hospital in Fulham Palace Road.

This year the organisers are hoping to beat that sum – and have added the Brain Tumour Research Campaign to its fundraising effort, along with Maggie’s.

"The festival is organised entirely by St James Street residents, close neighbours and volunteers," says Dharshani Weerasekera, one of the organisers.

"Our neighbourhood is pulling together to show that London’s community spirit is alive and kicking.

"This year the festival hopes to top last year’s figure raised and invites the whole neighbourhood to join us in having a wonderful day to achieve this goal."

As well as the live entertainment, stalls will include antique and vintage goods, clothing, a tombola and raffle, face painting, fortune telling, foot massages and a barbecue with vegetarian options.
