Support Needed to Raise St Peter’s Roof

The historic church needs half a million by December

The St Peter’s Challenge, a mission to raise £500,000 for the church’s new roof, now stands at just over £400,000 and includes a £166,000 donation from English Heritage’s Lottery Fund. However if they don't raise the full amount by December English Heritage will withdraw their grant. To raise the money a series of events has been organised.

Oct 11 Book Day - Book worms, bibliophiles and anyone who likes a good read will flocking to St Peter's Church, Black Lion Lane, London W6, on Saturday 11th October between 11am and 3pm for the Book Day in aid of the St Peter's Challenge.
"There will be new books as well as second hand books and something for all ages," says organiser, Deirdre Greenwood. "Local authors will be signing books and local children's authors will be doing readings. There will also be events such as a grand draw and raffle and a lucky dip." Parking is free.

Oct 16 Roderick Swanston Lecture in St Peter's Church

St Peter's foundation stone was laid in 1827 ­ Schubert and Rossini were the musical celebrities of the day and it was the year of Beethoven's death.
Roderick Swanston explores the London musical scene between 1815 (end of the Napoleonic Wars) and 1837 (the accession of Queen Victoria). This was a vibrant and exciting time in the history of music in Europe and Roderick's lecture will bring it alive for us as we sit in our very own Waterloo church building.
