The council and our partners have put together a packed programme of summer
holiday activities for children and young people.

Cllr David Williams, deputy for education, said: "We want to give children and
young people the chance to try out new activities, such as our mobile climbing
wall, and to have an enjoyable and safe time during the summer holiday."

Highlights of the summer programme include:

Play Day - 1.00-4.00pm, Wednesday 4 August
The borough's annual celebration of play at Ravenscourt Park. Live music, arts
and crafts, story-telling, pony rides, sports, face painting, bouncy castles, clowns,
balloon modellers and performances by children. Information and advice about
childcare, play facilities and other services also available.

Mobile climbing wall
Look out at Play Day and an estate or park near you for the borough's new mobile
climbing wall. Bought by the council with a Lottery grant, the 18ft high fiberglass
rockface is suitable for children and young people of all ages. It will be used at
community and sporting events and will be available to all schools in the borough
during term-time. For details contact the sports development team on

Summer Challenge - 2 - 13 August
This gives all 10-13-year-olds in the borough the chance to try out new activities, develop existing skills and make new friends. Positive activities for young people - 2 - 27 August
Centres across the borough providing 11-19-year-olds with support, guidance and an opportunity to take part in activities aimed at helping them to fulfil their potential. Programme includes digital photography & film making, DJing, dance, rap and lyric writing, adventure sports, arts & drama, IT and the internet, as well as workshops to develop personal skills. Junior Youth - 26 July - 27 August
Free drop-in sessions for children aged 8-12 at White City Centre,

Summer Sports Camps
· Ravenscourt Park, Hammersmith, and Hurlingham Park, Fulham - 26 July - 13 August. Activities for 8-16-year-olds, including football, hockey, rugby, tennis, rounders and kwik cricket.
· Fulham Cross School - 26 July - 13 August. For young people aged 11-17. Three weeks of sports coaching including football, basketball, tennis and hockey for boys and girls.

· Phoenix Sports & Fitness Centre, W12 - 26 July - 20 August. Active Planet and the Phoenix Neighbourhood Renewal Programme are offering activities for 8-16-year-olds including football, basketball, trampolining, street dance and DJing. Phone 020 8743 4442 or 020 8735 1502 for details.

Family Learning - free courses for families - 9 - 20 August
Courses in art, crafts and sewing, cookery, hair braiding, gardening, digital art and photography and computing run from 12.30-3pm at Bryony Centre & Media Café, 61 Bryony Road, W12 (Tel: 020 8749 1000) and at the Munster Centre, Filmer Road, SW6 (Tel: 020 7736 0864). Children must be with an adult. A free crèche for children aged six months to five years runs at the Bryony Centre. For information and advice on all courses call 020 8600 9191.

Summer events in libraries
Free story, craft and puppet-making sessions for children aged five to 11 based on Snow White, Harry Potter, seaside and ocean themes. Run at the borough's six libraries from 2.00 - 3.30pm until 4 September.
Also look out for the Reading Rollercoaster, a free summer reading challenge
which runs throughout the holiday for children aged 4 - 11. Stickers to collect and free gifts too. For more information contact 020 8753 3813 or pick up a leaflet from libraries.
