Next time you pass by the Ark's glass façade consider a quick gaze inside. It might be your opportunity to see a celebrity. Well, it is too late to see Helen Mirren or Julie Walters stripping off since the filming of Calendar Girls is already over, but the Ark doubled as a LA hotel in the movie.

The film was inspired by the British story of the Yorkshire woman who set out to raise money for Leukaemia Research Fund by posing nude for an alternative Woman's Institute calendar.

Not so much for philanthropy though, but the Ark's tenant is also trying to raise some money. The building has been empty for more than a year now and Seagram, the tenant trying to offload the space, is not content to sit by and leak cash through its lease. It is rumoured that productions companies are willing to pay up to £6,000 a day for the Ark.

Nobody at Seagram had to strip off yet since there are many requests to use the iconic building in film productions and also selling negotiations with FCUK (see article French Connection wants to buy the Ark).

The next movie featuring the Ark has less of such "sex appeal". Yet to be released, the film Tabloid TV has Matthew Rhys as a handsome, charismatic and deeply insincere television presenter whose hit show 'Tabloid TV' uncovers the darkest secrets of even the most virtuous celebrity guest. John Hurt is also in the film playing a malevolent criminal.
