Transport for London's (TfL) proposals for the Uxbridge Road between Shepherd's Bush and Uxbridge have implications which will reach far into the Borough - affecting not only the streets immediately off the Uxbridge Road, but reaching down to Goldhawk Road, Hammersmith, Chiswick and the A4, and up to and beyond the A40.

TfL say they sent out 300,000 public consultation documents. Very few people we have spoken to received one, and it has been subsequently found to be seriously flawed in its delivery and its misleading content. It is not surprising that 270 people in the borough said they were in favour of a tram. Hello? For 270 people who said they were in favour of a tram we are going to endure three years of road-works, compulsory purchase of properties, permanent closure of sections of the Uxbridge Road so that non-public transport vehicles (NPTVs) will have to find alternative routes, jamming up the residential streets, before filtering into the other main roads.

Where NPTVs are allowed on the Uxbridge Road they will all share one lane in each direction with the buses - that is buses, cars, vans, trucks, artics, dustcarts, cycles all sharing one lane, while the trams run in two lanes down the centre of the road.

The latest plans show the Uxbridge Road closed between Lime Grove and and the Southern Roundabout which is an extension on the previous plans. It seems that the traffic will be routed down Lime Grove. Do the residents know about this?

We hope to have people from TfL, the Borough Council, Save Our Streets (formerly Save Ealing's Streets), and the Emergency Services to speak and to take your questions at our meeting.
