So, where is the letter sent by Greg Hands to the Post Office itself?

Hammersmith & Fulham Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman, Cllr Greg Hands, has resorted to using recorded delivery to send a letter to the Post Office, regarding the postal crisis in the W14 area.

With just one Post Office (Blythe Road) left to serve 48,000 people in W14, run by an elderly couple who are struggling to cope with demand, Cllr Hands wrote to the Head of Network Reinvention at Post Office HQ in August, demanding answers (letter attached). Nearly a month on, no reply or acknowledgement has been forthcoming, so Greg is trying again, this time by recorded delivery!

This comes as little surprise with the Royal Mail Group’s Quarterly “quality of service report” for April to June 2004 showing post for all of the “W” postal area failing to meet delivery targets. According to Hands, over 11 in every 100 first class letters do not reach their destination in time.

Commenting, Greg said: “The postal situation in Hammersmith & Fulham, particularly in W14, is getting beyond a joke.

 

“An already poor level of service is just made worse by Post Office Limited’s inability to either deliver a letter to themselves, or have the courtesy to acknowledge it.

“Thousands of people are suffering delayed and lost post in Hammersmith & Fulham – and I am determined to get answers and action for all residents from those in charge.”
