Ad - The award winning suicide prevention charity is looking for more volunteers
We are The Listening Place, an award winning suicide prevention charity providing regular, free, face to face appointments for those who feel life is no longer worth living. We are open seven days a week, 9am-9pm. This active listening support is provided by trained volunteers – no experience or qualifications are needed. We look for people with empathy and compassion, who have the time to sit with a suicidal visitor once a fortnight, and listen to their thoughts and feelings. Our visitors see the same volunteer for all their appointments, and it is this consistency that is so effective – a relationship of trust is created, which allows our visitors to be open and honest about their feelings. As one of our visitors said ‘TLP makes me feel more safe and supported than I have felt in a long time. Thank you so much’. Watch our video to learn more about what it means to be a TLP volunteer. If you would like to make a difference to the life of someone who is struggling, apply here to join our wonderful, warm group of volunteers at our Hammersmith centre.
