Cricket legend dons his walking boots for Macmillan Cancer Support
Cricket legend, Phil Tufnell is calling on all Londoners to takepart in Macmillan Cancer Relief's fun new fundraising event Walk Wonders, supported by npower.
There are all kinds of ways to get involved but Macmillan are encouraging local people to sign up today for their Thames Pathway Walk on 21 May and help people in the area affected by cancer.
People of all ages will enjoy the fantastic riverside walk which starts at he Auriol Rowing Club in Hammersmith and gives the option of stopping after five miles or continuing on to complete ten.
On the day there will be face painting, belly dancing and other activities for the whole family to enjoy including a competition for the best fancy dressed superhero!
The final destination will be the Mayors Office at Tower Bridge, where a welcoming committee will provide refreshments and a big thank you.
Along the way, walkers will enjoy the varied views which make London's riverside so famous, including pagodas, power stations, and architecture old and new. It will be a fascinating and healthy way to have fun with family and friends, young and old alike.
Phil Tufnell said "I think that Walk Wonders is a smashing idea and I will definitely be pulling my boots on to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
"You don't have to be mega fit! Why not get a gang together, go walking and enjoy the walk along the Thames on 21 May 2006."
Megan Potter, Macmillan Fundraising Manager said: "Over 25,000 Londoners are diagnosed with cancer each year, the need for Macmillan's specialist professionals, information and expert care is growing.
"This really is the perfect excuse for a springtime Sunday walk in the fresh air with friends and family, taking in London's famous landscape, whilst raising money to help people living with cancer."
The event is open to all. Entry is £5 per adult and it's free for children under 16.
