Fun, food and drink for all the family – Sunday 16th September
Whether you’re 6 or 60, fit and healthy and longing for a run, or like me fancy a gentle stroll along the river before breakfast, come and join in the fun and build up an appetite on the riverside on Sunday 16th September at 10 o’clock, when the Chiswick Branch of Save the Children charity will be holding a Family River Walk starting from Dukes Meadows and crossing the river twice at Barnes and Hammersmith Bridges before arriving back at the Band stand for a well-earned bar-b-q breakfast.
Following on from an successful inaugural event last year, when over 100 volunteers raised over £2,000 for Save the Children, the branch is looking to widen the appeal and increase the number of volunteers participating in the event. So come and join us, start the day off in good company and contribute to a great cause!
The Chiswick branch of Save the Children has been established for over 25 years and during that time has raised funds for the charity from a number of annual events such as Burns Nights, Christmas Fairs, Quiz and Bridge evenings, Garden parties and the like. Wherever there is a child in need at home or abroad, Save the Children makes huge efforts to ensure that every child has the basics that we sometimes take for granted – a place of safety, food and water and proper care and medical attention wherever they may be.
