Design Bank offers selection of classes to help the vulnerable
Design Bank opened as a pop-up in the former JJB Sports Shop in the West12 Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush, offering workshops in upcycling, interior design and basic do-it-yourself skills. It is run by Elisicia Moore, who is the CEO of Petit Miracle Interiors, a registered charity, which teaches vulnerable people the skill of interior design, DIY and upcycling techniques as a means to turn their lives around.
Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or used or second-hand products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. Upcycled furniture is a strong trend in interiors and a cost saving approach to designing your home.
You will be encouraged to use your creativity to see the potential in household items, creating stunning and innovative pieces. Join a class and let’s turn a boring lamp into something special! Choose one of our items or bring an item along that you’d like to upcycle and we’ll show you how to use the tools techniques required to create your masterpiece!
There are stations for Sewing, Knitting, Upcycling and Crafts. Choose what you’d like to learn and make yourself something beautiful!
Workshop Schedule and shop opening hours, workshops run on a drop-in basis so pop by whenever you like and learn a new skill!
Fees Almost all workshops are priced at an affordable £3 however others, due to cost of materials, are priced up to £25.
The Design Bank mission is to provide art and design training to vulnerable people, to gain skills to improve their life and become economically independent citizens.
