Police seeking victim of handbag snatch

on Greaves Place, (near Tooting Leisure Centre) on Friday 7 January 2005, at approximately 1030.

At around 1030 a young black man with a shaven head, aged in his mid twenties, wearing black clothing, was seen approaching and grabbing a woman on Greaves Place - and subsequently snatching her black handbag.

The woman, described as white, with dark hair, wearing a black jacket and black trousers, started to chase the suspect.

The suspect was then seen to drop the bag as he ran down Garratt Terrace, towards Tooting High Street. The victim then picked up her bag, and the suspect headed on to Tooting High Street.

PC Steven Parker, from Wandsworth Robbery Squad said "We are really keen to speak to this victim as a person has already been arrested in relation to this offence. All phone calls will be dealt with in confidence so if it was you who had your bag snatched - or you are a witness - we would urge you to come and talk to us - you can contact us on 020 8247 8709".
