HFEH Mind has announced the launch of a new mental health service, ‘Mind Within Counselling’, set to begin delivery from the beginning of September. The initiative is designed to provide low-cost, income-based counselling and psychodynamic therapy to adults with mild to moderate mental health needs across the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow, and Spelthorne.

The service will be delivered by a team of counsellors and psychotherapists, including both trainees and qualified professionals. Practitioners involved are trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, person-centred counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), brief solution therapy, transactional analysis, gestalt, and integrative therapy.

Residents aged 18 and over who live in or are registered with a GP in the eligible boroughs can access the service through self-referral or referral by professionals such as GPs, social prescribers, or support agencies. Once referred, individuals will be contacted by HFEH Mind to arrange an initial assessment, which lasts up to one hour. During this session, clients can discuss their concerns and the support they are seeking. The clinical team will then determine the most appropriate therapist match. If the service is not suitable, applicants will be signposted to alternative support options and resources.

The cost of the initial assessment is £18. Subsequent sessions are priced according to income, with waged clients paying between £23 and £43 per session, and unwaged clients charged up to £15. Psychodynamic therapy is priced separately at £48 per session. All fees are agreed during the assessment and paid in advance through an online booking system.

Sessions will be available Monday to Saturday between 10am and 9pm, depending on location and counsellor availability. Clients may access up to 20 sessions, with progress monitored throughout. Referrals are currently open, and the service will begin accepting clients from the start of September.

You can find a referral form for the service here.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
