Hammersmith Hospital's Patients' Forum to hear from expert
The Patient and Public Involvement Forum (PPIF) for the Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust will welcome the Trust’s Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Dr Alison Holmes, to its next meeting in public which will be held on Thursday 9th September 2004 at the Irish Centre, Blacks Road, Hammersmith London W6 9DT at 6.p.m.
The meeting comes at a time of grave concern for patients following on patients reportedly catching a serious MRSA infection at Ravenscourt Park Hospital.
Dr. Holmes will give a presentation entitled “Superbugs: Myth and Reality” after which members of the Forum, the press and the public will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Forum member Lynette Royle said: “We recognise that the Hammersmith Hospitals Trust face particular problems with the so-called 'superbugs' because so many patients are referred to them from other hospitals. We look forward to hearing from Dr.Holmes about the steps they are taking to deal with this problem.”
The Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust comprises Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital and runs the Ravenscourt Park Hospital.
The Patient and Public Involvement Forum is an independent voluntary body appointed by the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health. Its aim is to identify key issues raised by hospital users, their families, carers and friends and provide an effective voice actively to influence local decisions about health.
