Schools, libraries and rubbish collections affected
Rubbish piled up and libraries and schools closed on Thursday and Friday as 318 members of Unison and Unite/T&G walked out in a national dispute over pay.
46 schools stayed open open, Fulham Primary School, St Peter’s Primary School, Wendell Park Primary School and Jack Tizard and Queensmill special school were completely closed.
Avonmmore, Brackenbury and Normand Croft schools were also affected by the strike.
As no rubbish was collected on the strike days (Thursday 17 July and Friday 18 July) rubbish will now be collected two days in arrears until Monday 21 July.
This will mean that collections that would have previously been made on a Wednesday will now be made on a Friday.
People who normally have their rubbish collected on Thursdays will now have their collections on Saturday and Friday collections on Sunday.
Askew, Shepherds Bush, Hammersmith, Barons Court and Sands End libraries also closed over the two days.
