Westfield bringing boost to housing market in W6

Lettings and sales are up as opening day approaches

Estate agents are reporting a surge of interest in homes in Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush.

The Westfield shopping centre in White City is attracting people looking to buy and rent in the W6, W12 and W14 areas, according to local estate agents.

 

The shopping centre will open on 30 October, and a nearby overground station linking Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction as well as a refurbished Central Line station have already opened in preparation.

 

While well-heeled would-be buyers will enjoy having Prada and Tiffany & Co on their doorstep, rentals have also soared due to people finding work at the new centre and wanting to live in the area.

 

Ian Dickson, an estate agent for Winkworth in Shepherds Bush Road, Hammersmith, said: “I’ve worked in this area for a long time. The shopping centre is bringing a boost to the local housing market.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“There are signs that those people who are looking to buy are identifying the area more than some others. "They feel that the shopping centre is a boost to the area.

“We have noticed it even more with the lettings. People working in the shopping centre are looking to rent in W6, W12 and W14."
