Australian theatre company Mon Sans Productions returns to London with a new play that aims to address the reality of homelessness.
Street is set to make its UK premiere on Tuesday 3 June at the Barons Court Theatre with 10% of the box office going to homeless charity the Barons Court Project.
Michael Angus, Director of the Barons Court Project said, "We are delighted to collaborate with Mon Sans Productions and the play Street. With rough sleeping continuing to rise, we are grateful for the opportunity to contemplate the theme of homelessness through a theatrical lens. Connecting with the characters will give an insight into the work we undertake, caring for our guests in Body, Mind and Spirit."
The play follows Foster and Miriam, two homeless youths who are used to being left alone and unseen, that is, until their kerbside is taken over by Fay and Christian, a mysterious pair who are new to the cruel reality of living on the streets.
Writer and director Liviu Monsted presents a grim picture of the plight of young people living on the street. It is not so much a story of why or how they ended up homeless, nor does it seek to present a neat solution to their situation, rather it raises asks us to look more closely
at those living on the streets.".
Liviu Monsted said, “After the success of ‘The Various Methods of Escape’ at the Bread and Roses in 2024, I was keen to return to London, I noticed London had a similar homelessness problem as Sydney and knew that Street would be theright production to put on next”.
The cast is Maisie Tiedeman, Bill Gurney, Hadrian Conyngham, Serena Lehman, Mitch Howell.
The play is being performed at 7:30pm from 3-7 June and runs for 75 minutes without an interval.
Tickets are priced at £15 for general admission and £10 for concessions.
The Barons Court Theatre is below the Curtain's Up Pub at 28a Comeragh Road, W14 9HR.
