Free Career Building 4-day courses to guide and support
The ‘Creative People into Employment’ project gives support and guidance to people who want to build a career in the creative and media industries. So if you are an artist, designer, film maker, photographer, performer, musician, DJ or writer this opportunity is for YOU!
There are two FREE 4-day courses in February; ‘Creative People into Enterprise’ and ‘Presentation Skills for Creative Careers’ with the possibility of media training. The courses’ Creative Consultant, Alison Branagan, is also available for one-to-one careers and self-employment advice at the NDC Project Centre on North End Road.
North Fulham NDC is an exciting community partnership looking to improve the North Fulham area. The North Fulham NDC partnership is a Government-funded programme which operates until 2011 under the New Deal for Communities (NDC) initiative. New Deal for Communities is a key programme in the Government's strategy to tackle multiple deprivation in the most deprived neighbourhoods in the country. It gives some of the England's poorest communities the resources to tackle local problems in an intensive and co-ordinated way. The aim is to bridge the gap between these neighbourhoods and the rest of England.
There are 39 NDC partnerships in England which receive a total of approximately £2bn. The problems of each NDC neighbourhood are unique, but all the NDC partnerships are tackling five key areas: poor job prospects; high levels of crime; educational under-achievement; poor health; and problems with housing and the physical environment.
The keys to change are: improving local services, increasing community capacity i.e. enabling people to do more for themselves; and adopting an evidence-based approach to delivering change i.e. getting proof of what works in practice so that whatever works is considered for rolling out across other neighbourhoods.
