Adult Learners' Week, 21st- 27th May

Adult Learners' Week will take place between the 21st and 27th May this year and in Acton and Ealing you can participate in a variety of free activities.

 

Ealing Council's Library and Information Service, Adult Education Services, and Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College are jointly promoting the activities which will take place in the borough's libraries.

 

Adult Learners' Week is a national campaign, offering adults the chance to have a go at something new by trying out free taster sessions that happen across England, and is also an opportunity for education providers to show adults what they offer.

 

There will be three types of events held during the week: special stands at the borough's three main libraries; regular introductory sessions at the Learning Resource Centres in the main libraries; and a 'Silver Surfers Day' at branch libraries.

 

Dates, times and venues of the events are as follows:

 

SPECIAL STANDS AT OUR THREE MAIN LIBRARIES

At all these stands there will be a chance to meet library experts who will provide advice on how libraries can help you get started.   In addition there will be external advisors offering their services.

 

EALING Central Library, 103 Broadway Centre, W5

Saturday 21 May   11am - 3pm

Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College offers advice on its various courses, ranging from learning a language to getting a qualification.

 

Wednesday 25 May   9.30am - 5pm

Ealing Job Centre offers a 'surgery' giving you essential tips on compiling CVs and writing job applications, as well as information on 'hot jobs' that are available now.

 

Thursday 26 May   6pm - 7.30pm

A chance to talk to a pensions professional, to point you in the right direction on this often complicated subject.

Another opportunity to find out more about the many courses offered by Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College.

Tuesday 24 May   11am - 3pm

An opportunity to meet library staff who will show you all the library offers and where to find the information you want.

 

SOUTHALL Library, Osterley Park Road, UB2

Friday 27 May   11am - 12pm

Find out about fun family learning sessions in the library where you can help your toddler learn to read, as well as improve your own English.

 

REGULAR FREE INTRODUCTORY SESSIONS AT THE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRES

You can get started on basic Word Processing and Internet skills in free half-hour sessions with friendly and experienced IT tutors from Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College.   These will be in the Learning Centres at Acton, Ealing Central and Southall libraries on:

 

Monday 23 May - Word Processing sessions from 9.30am - 10am & 4pm - 4.30pm

Tuesday 24 May - Internet sessions from 9.30am - 10am & 4pm - 4.30pm

Thursday 26 May - Word Processing sessions from 9.30am - 10am & 4pm - 4.30pm

Friday 27 May - Internet sessions from 9.30am - 10am & 4pm - 4.30pm
