"Glamoursmith" faces a crisis unless the prince can find a bride
November 2, 2026
The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre has opened applications for free tickets to the first performance of its 2026 Christmas pantomime, Cinderella, giving local residents and workers the chance to see the festive production at no cost.
As part of the theatre's long-running Free First Night scheme, people who live or work in Hammersmith & Fulham can apply for up to two complimentary tickets for the opening performance on Saturday 14 November at 6pm.
The production will run from 14 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, continuing the Lyric's tradition of large-scale family pantomimes.
This year's show offers a comic take on the classic fairy tale. Cinderella spends her days trapped in a decaying castle, forced to work for her captor, Suella, and her eccentric sisters. Meanwhile, the kingdom of "Glamoursmith" faces disaster unless its "most moderately charming" prince can find a bride before midnight.
Audiences are invited to become part of the story, helping Buttons, assisting the prince's frantic search and cheering Cinderella on her journey to the ball before the clock strikes twelve.
The production has been written by Joel Horwood, whose previous credits include The Ocean at the End of the Lane and I Want My Hat Back. Horwood returns to the Lyric pantomime following his 2016 production of Aladdin, which was described by The Stage as "wickedly good".
Direction comes from Robin Belfield, known for productions including Princess Essex and Anansi The Spider.
Applications for free opening-night tickets close on 8 November. Demand is typically high, with tickets allocated through a ballot for eligible applicants.
Further information about the production and the Free First Night scheme is available through the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre website.
