Open Studio offers mix of paintings, textiles, ceramics, sculpture and papier mâché

Artists continue to work whatever the economic climate and there is plenty of evidence that people are still buying art, whether as an investment, for gifts or for aesthetic appreciation.

Five local artists are holding an Open Studio on 5-7 December, offering an interesting mix of paintings, textiles, ceramics, sculpture and papier mâché. There will also be post-cards and Christmas cards.

JOANNA BRENDON shows paintings and small encaustic works on paper following her solo exhibition at Brantwood (John Ruskin’s home in the Lake District), where she was Artist in Residence in 2006.

BOBBIE KOCIEJOWSKI offers a collection of hand-woven scarves, ties and shawls. She has recently participated in Origin at Somerset House and in a joint exhibition at The De Morgan Centre in Wandsworth.

PAMELA HARDENBURG works from life, producing figurative stoneware sculpture for garden and interior. She teaches at Richmond Adult Education Centre and is an International Baccalaureate visual arts examiner and consultant.

MINNIE HARRIS produces coiled, slab-built and thrown high-temperature stoneware, with subtle ash glazes. She also shows a collection of solid silver, Millennium-hallmarked bangles.

LIZ TAUNT makes simple, elegant and surprisingly robust papier mâché pots and dishes, using hand-printed and handmade papers.

There will be mulled wine – and maybe a partridge in a pear tree.
