Petros Singers are returning home to perform their Christmas concert at St Peter’s Church, Black Lion Lane in Hammersmith

The event takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday 11 December and is sponsored by local estate agents Horton and Garton.

They will be celebrating Christmas music from across the centuries – from Medieval Scandinavia, through Renaissance Italy and Baroque Germany, to Dickensian England and contemporary Hollywood.

The concert features Gustav Holst's Christmas Day and Bob Chilcott’s The Twelve Days of Christmas, alongside the world premiere of Glad Christmas Comes, a carol suite commissioned by Petros Singers and composed by Andrew Wells.

The musical director is Richard Bannan who was a choral scholar at Clare College, Cambridge before embarking on a career as a professional vocal musician, arranger and teacher. He now sings as a Lay-Clerk at St George’s Chapel, Windsor and with many of the country’s major professional ensembles.

Andrew Wells has been Petros Singers’ accompanist since 1987 and will play piano and organ. He plays for several other choirs and has frequently been rehearsal pianist for the BBC Singers and Symphony Chorus. As a composer, he has written in many diverse styles, with works being performed from London to Moscow.

Petros Singers is an amateur chamber choir. It performs a wide variety of music – from baroque to contemporary, from largescale works to exquisite miniatures – placing particular emphasis on vibrant and communicative singing.

Tickets cost £17, £15 for concessions and £5 for under 28s and can be purchased in advance on Petros Singers' website, or on the door (subject to availability).
