Revival of Rattigan's The Winslow Boy

Theatre West Four's production of �The Winslow Boy', which runs from 11 th - 14 th May at Questors Theatre in Ealing, is the first play by Terence Rattigan this well established and award winning West London drama group has ever performed.    In its forty year history, TW4 has staged works by many eminent playwrights, and Director Freddie Mauwer is delighted to add Rattigan to its repertoire - especially a poignant and enduring play like �The Winslow Boy'.

 

Written just after the Second World War about a period just before the First World War, �The Winslow Boy' has a surprisingly domestic setting.   It tells the tale of how a young navel cadet is sent down for allegedly stealing a five shilling postal order.   Based on a true story, which received extensive press coverage and grabbed the attention of the public and government of the day, �The Winslow Boy' remains a timely tale of ordinary people taking on the status quo on a matter of principle.   It's about the importance of letting right be done, yet not all members of the Winslow family entirely profit from their fight for justice.
